Easter Seal’s 2012 “ Walk With Me Grand Rapids” Event – a BIG Success
June 13th dawned clear and warm, a picture perfect West Michigan summer day and an outstanding night for Easter Seals “Walk With Me Grand Rapids” event!
Nearly 600 Amway employees and Grand Rapids residents registered for the event that delivered $64,000 to Easter Seals Michigan. Amway served as the presenting sponsor of 8th Annual “Walk With Me” event at John Ball Park Zoo. Matching the first $20,000 of employee contributions, the company was proud to offer $41,000 to the cause.
“It was a perfect event for many reasons but the main one is the efforts and dedication of the West Michigan community. We thank each and every person who participated,” said Easter Seals Michigan President and CEO, Brent Wirth. “We had great food, weather, mascots, local media and people who really believe in the cause of helping children, adults and seniors with special needs achieve a better life.”
Amway, XS Energy Drinks, sponsors CVS Pharmacy, AMC, and local media, FOX 17 and My Channel 95.7, were all on hand with free giveaways for walkers and their families. Adding to the fun, NASCAR driver, James Buescher, driver of the #30 Amway was there with his car for photos and autographs.
The money raised from the Walk will fund a wide range of Easter Seals’ services and programs in West Michigan, including occupational therapy, speech and play therapy, therapeutic horseback riding, summer camps and more.
Through the years, donations by Amway, it’s employees and Amway IBOs have been a powerful force in support of Easter Seals. We have raised more than $30 million in donations over our 29-year partnership with Easter Seals and help millions of individuals with disabilities. Amway is an annual sponsor of “Walk With Me” events, to raise funds benefiting Easter Seals therapy programs in local communities. Every year, more than a thousand IBOs and employees participate in dozens of “Walk With Me” events around the country.
