Miss America 2012, Laura Kaeppeler Brings Heart to West Michigan
Miss America is a very busy young woman. In one month alone, she can travel 20,000 miles, fulfilling the responsibilities that come with her role and crown. So, we were especially delighted when Laura Kaeppeler, the current Miss America, stopped by Grand Rapids, Michigan — home of her scholarship sponsor, Amway – recently.
Miss America and the Miss America Organization share many of the same values as Amway, including service. While visiting Grand Rapids, Laura had the opportunity to participate first-hand in activities that benefitted several of the AMWAY ONE BY ONE® CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN partners. Laura helped to celebrate National Reading Month, reading to children at the Steil Boys & Girls Club in Grand Rapids and young patients at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. She also helped to kick off Amway’s new Random Acts of Kindness Campaign* by surprising two local families served by Urban Family Ministries, with spring break stay-cations featuring fun activities to do around Grand Rapids.
*The Random Acts of Kindness Campaign is a Amway-sponsored, country-wide initiative, dedicated to surprising people with mini blessings, without expectations in return. The campaign is focused on going to people where they work, live and play.
